About the Holy Trinity Parish, Brisbane
Ukrainian Orthodox Parish of the Holy Trinity in Brisbane was established on 22 June 2025 with the blessing of Metropolitan Antony Scharba, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the Diaspora (Ecumenical Patriarchate). The parish brings together faithful from several generations of Ukrainians – those born in Australia as well as those who arrived during different waves of immigration.
The parish is under the pastoral care of Fr. Yurii Fediv, who arrived from Lviv, Ukraine, in September 2023. It belongs to the Australian–New Zealand Eparchy of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church in the Diaspora(Ecumenical Patriarchate), under the spiritual leadership of Metropolitan Antony Scharba.
The parish life is enriched by an active Sisterhood, Brotherhood, and a dedicated Parish Choir. Following the Divine Liturgy, parishioners are invited to share in fellowship, refreshments, and conversations on faith and community life. Each month, the faithful also receive Uspenska Vezha – Ukraine’s oldest religious magazine, published continuously since March 1991.
The Ukrainian Orthodox presence in Brisbane traces back to 4 March 1950, when the first UAOC parish was founded. Services were initially celebrated in a purchased church house in Woolloongabba under the pastoral care of Fr. Serhii Shumsky. In 1972, the community built the Protection of the Theotokos Church, which remained a spiritual home until 1993.
Today, the Parish of the Holy Trinity continues this legacy, offering a place of prayer, worship, and community for all who seek God’s grace. All are welcome to join us in worship and fellowship.
